You did everything right.
You got the labs.
You asked the questions.
You tried to be proactive.
And the results came back… "normal."
Estrogen: fine.
Thyroid: within range.
Glucose: normal.
So why are you still:
Exhausted by 2pm
Snapping at people you love
Foggy in meetings
Gaining weight around your middle
Waking up at 3am for no reason
Here's what most women are never told:
Hormone levels don't matter if your cells aren't listening.
Let me explain.
Hormones are messengers. They travel through your bloodstream delivering instructions.
But they only work if they can bind to something called a receptor.
Think of receptors as tiny locks on your cells and hormones are the keys.
If the lock is jammed, inflamed, or downregulated…
The key doesn't work.
The hormone may be present but the effect of that hormone never happens.
This is called hormone receptor dysfunction and it's one of the most overlooked drivers of midlife symptoms.
It's why you can feel hypothyroid with normal thyroid labs.
It's why estrogen can look fine on paper, but you still feel unstable.
It's why insulin can be "normal" while your body stores fat like it's preparing for winter.
You're not "deficient" or "depleted", your signaling system might just be disrupted.
In my next email, I'm going to explain why this happens and how chronic stress is often the hidden master switch.
Because once you understand the mechanism, that's when real change begins.
To your everlasting health,
Dr. Tracy
