It’s almost as if I’ve reached the end of the world… Welcome back to my Substack! Thank you for being here. Well, I told you that I’d add more books to your TBR, so here goes! Today I’m recommending Strange Little Horrors by Amy Cross. It’s a small collection of horror short stories. Mike Davis (Lovecraft eZine Founder) is a reader-supported publication. Upgrade to paid I enjoyed every story in this collection, but one of them really stood out to me: “Sitcom”. “Sitcom” is about a girl who wakes up at 3:00 am one night. She’s confused, because she never, ever wakes up in the middle of the night. She checks on her parents in the next bedroom, but they are still fast asleep. Then she goes downstairs, and this one ordinary act changes her life forever. To say more would spoil your enjoyment of this story. In fact, I won’t even tell you which subgenre it falls into, because that in itself would be a minor spoiler. Suffice to say that this tale is one of the best of its kind that I have ever read.
